Principal’s Message

Dear Parents:

Welcome to 2020 – 2021 school year! The beginning of a new school year, like the dawning of a new day, reminds us that the future holds limitless possibilities. This year we will continue to be shaped by our reform efforts as outlined by Every Student Success Act (ESSA), as well as Florida Education Standards and Miami-Dade Public Schools guidelines. Our accomplishments have been immense, and we continue to focus on teaching and learning so that our students will move into a global society, bilingual, and bi-literal reaching their full potential while preparing them for the demands of the 21st century.

While maintaining the implementation of the initiatives already in place, this year we will heighten our focus while implementing the STEAM approach to learning which uses, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. The STEAM approach requires gathering and using evidence to create knowledge or solve problems. STEAM learning happens naturally everyday in our school as our students explore, play, and try new things.

In addition to learning, Safety and Security continues to be of utmost importance. The collaboration of all stakeholders to adhere to the procedures of our school’s safety plan to monitor access to our campus will enhance our ability to maintain a record of who is always on campus. This school year we will resume our “Drop-Off’ and “Pick-Up” system that was put in place for the safety of our students. Our school will continue to be a campus where the students are safe from violence, bullying, and harassment. All members of our learning community are committed to promoting and maintaining a safe, friendly environment for our children to learn and be positively connected to others.

I know that we can meet all our initiatives because we have a faculty and staff that believes in the promise of educational excellence. It is important to us that our students feel safe, respected, and valued. We thank you for your continued support to our school and above all for the time and effort you dedicate to your child’s education. Working together, we will be able to help our students find their passion for learning as we move forward “Full Steam Ahead”.
